Harry S. Truman
Like Franklin Roosevelt, Harry Truman leaned toward progressive ideals while President. In terms of domestic policy, Harry Truman introduced the "Fair Deal" which were a set of policies that actually expand on Franklin Roosevelt's second New Deal. These policies included expanding social security, providing public housing, and establishing fair employment practices along with permanent employment for Americans. What makes Harry Truman as bold as Franklin Roosevelt was that Harry Truman followed through with the policies of keeping a strong military presence overseas through the policy of "containment" to stop the Communists from taking over other non-Communist countries. Truman is probably most famous for his decision to end World War II completely by dropping to atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki respectively to put fear in the minds of the Japanese who had a culture antithetical to fearing the enemy.
