Abraham Lincoln
What makes Abraham Lincoln so unique from the other courageous Presidents was that his decisions had such an impact that it help preserve the America that we know of today. During the time that he was President of the United States, numerous states in the South believed that Lincoln was a usurper and he wanted to take away their rights. The South wanted succession from the Union so that their "rights" can be preserved. One of the most controversial of the "rights" that the South wanted to keep was the right to own slaves. Abraham Lincoln was mostly concerned with reserving the Union rather simply just free slaves even though he also opposed slavery. Abraham Lincoln believed that war was necessary in order to stop the South from succeeding. One of the boldest moves that he made as President was signing a document that would start the Civil War. Lincoln did not like war but he felt it was the option to keep all of the states united.
